My Story

My Journey started at 38 years old, when I was faced with a major health emergency.   At a routine health visit, the doctor confirmed that I had multiple masses in my stomach.  During the consultation with the doctor, I was faced with the toughest decision of my life. I consented to removing the masses due to the risk of ovarian cancer, in our family history.  I was scared.   There were two outcomes, I would awake from the surgery with our without the ability to bear children.  I survived the surgery, but the emotional, psychological, and physical effects still hunt me today.  I remember my aunt calling me the day before the surgery to remind me that "I was still a woman", no matter the outcome.  "Still a woman", why would I not be?  This journey taught me a lesson regarding what happens to women as we transition to various phases of life. How many women need to hear that life is just beginning?  There is so much life left to live!
